I started The Grim Gavel because some questions refuse to leave me alone. Questions about justice, punishment, mercy, faith, and what it means for a society to decide who lives and who dies.
This site is where I want to wrestle with those questions in public. Not because I have every answer, but because they are too important to ignore.
The death penalty raises legal arguments, moral arguments, and spiritual arguments. I want this site to be a place where those questions can be faced honestly.
